About Mrs. Henry

Hello! I am Mellissa Henry. This is my 19th year to serve in the White Oak community.

I attended Jacksonville College and Stephen F. Austin State University.  I hold two degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (specialization in mathematics) and a Masters of Science in School Mathematics Teaching.  It has always been my desire to teach at the secondary level.  I taught 6th through 8th-grade math and Pre-Algebra at White Oak Middle School for 6 years from August of 2001 through May of 2007.  I rejoined the WOMS faculty in August of 2011, as a Pre-Algebra and Algebra teacher, and held that position through May 2020, when I moved into a high school math position at WOHS.  I currently teach Algebra 2, College Preparatory Mathematics, Dual Credit College Algebra, Dual Credit Statistics, and UiL Number Sense and Calculator. In addition to working at WOISD, I am an adjunct math instructor for Kilgore College.

Things I enjoy: reading, RV camping, spending time with my family and friends, serving in my church, ice cream (cookies and cream is my fave), and teaching math!
